![]() Q: Is an ECU flash similar to getting a Power Commander or Bazzaz unit?Ī: They share some similar abilities, but no. The ECU flash will work seamlessly with any aftermarket controllers. Q: Can a flashed ECU be used with a Power Commander or Bazzaz unit?Ī: Yes. We guarantee that we will not fry or brick it. The process by which we flash your ECU imposes absolutely no risk to your ECU. Q: Are there any risks to my ECU (ie it getting "fried" or "bricked") during the flashing process?Ī: Absolutely not. The only thing you need to do is run premium (91+ Octane) fuel and adhere to your standard service intervals.Ī: Most likely, however we can restore your ECU to stock if needed. We tune so that each bike can still be ridden daily, with the same reliability as a stock machine. We tune each motorcycle to be as powerful as it can be, while still tuning conservatively. Q: Is ECU flashing going to make my motorcycle unreliable?Ī: No. Q: What if I don't know what settings to use?Ī: We have obtained a considerable amount of data by using our flashes on our race bikes and can offer suggested settings, or insight on how each setting works. A stock motorcycle will still see radical increases in power and useability. The only difference is the fuel mapping applied. Q: Is flashing beneficial for a stock motorcycle?Ī: Yes. The MikeymotoRacing ECU flash optimizes the power your motorcycle is capable of producing by removing these restrictions and applying performance-oriented tuning. Other times, manufacturers limit the power a motorcycle can make, help the bike be more manageable to less experienced riders. In order to meet these regulations, some motorcycle are 'detuned' in order to produce lower emissions. You'll have a much more responsive and smoother throttle feeling, along with your newfound power. We will give your bike an additional 2-3 rear wheel horsepower and remove all throttle and timing restrictions on the bike from the factory that the R3 has. You send us your ECU and we reflash it to your custom specifications. You asked, so I have given you what I see as your true options at this late point. This is a mail-in service. However, a decent slip-on system is not going to be much cheaper than an ECU tune.įinally, you could buy someone's OEM system and leave the exhaust UNmodified at all. Then, buy a slip-on system that leaves the cat alone while still giving you a louder or different sound. One way you could go is to buy another R3 owner's OEM system, which would be cheap (almost free) because no one wants the OEM system, and plenty of guys have gone with full exhausts. But, now that you have cut the OEM system, without having the funds to complete the tuning process, your choices are not good. If all you want is a louder, or simply a different, sound, there are plenty of "slip-on" systems that leave the cat alone, and so don't require a tune. This is something you should have planned for BEFORE you chopped up your system in this irreversible way. ALL of the methods of correcting the air fuel ratio now are going to be pretty costly. Determining an "appropriate" tune though is tough given the way you created your new "system". Installing the block-off plate is essential to stop the backfiring in the exhaust which will otherwise sooner or later attract a police officer, but given the removal of the cat, that still might not completely stop the backfiring.Īs for the lean condition, you need to either have the ECU tuned or install a Power Commander with an appropriate tune. If your new system has removed the cat, which is the biggest restriction in the OEM exhaust, your engine is going to run lean, which is harmful to it, and it's going to backfire in the exhaust, which will get you lots of unfavorable police attention.
